Disease caused by viruses

Hepatitis B is a viral infection that affects the liver, caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). It can lead to both acute and chronic liver disease, ranging from mild illness to severe conditions like cirrhosis or liver cancer.
The virus is transmitted through contact with infectious bodily fluids, such as blood, semen, or vaginal fluids, commonly through unprotected sex, sharing needles, or from mother to child during childbirth. Vaccination is available to prevent infection, and antiviral treatments can help manage chronic cases.
